    The Tampa International Airport (TPA) seeks an experienced and dedicated Assistant General Counsel to join our legal team. Under the general direction of the Executive Vice President/General Counsel, this role is pivotal in supporting the legal functions of the Authority. The successful candidate will undertake a diverse range of responsibilities, including but not limited to conducting legal research, preparing legal documents, and providing legal guidance to staff. This position also involves representing the Authority in various meetings, hearings and proceedings, as well as reviewing complex contracts and agreements, including airline agreements, concession/commercial development agreements, rental car and ground transportation agreements, land acquisition and ground leases, easements, licenses, construction and consultant agreements, interlocal agreements, and leases of airport facilities.  This position requires proficiency in negotiation techniques and the ability to develop and implement legal strategies.

    Additionally, the Assistant General Counsel will assist in-house and contracted lobbyists with legislative drafting and interpretation, ensuring that all contracts and agreements comply with relevant federal, state, and local regulations and operating directives. Familiarity with the Florida Public Records Act and Florida Sunshine Law is highly desirable. Familiarity with employment law and workers compensation is as desirable.  The ideal candidate will actively participate in local, state, national, and international bar associations and/or industry trade groups to stay abreast of developments in aviation law and legal practices.
