Medical Coverage Options

Employees have the option to choose between Aetna Select (Also known as an HMO) and Aetna Open Choice (also known as a PPO) plan through Aetna Health Care.  Both plans offer a large network of providers, with no cost annual wellness visits and low cost prescription medication coverage.

Dental Insurance

Dental coverage is provided through Cigna Dental.  Our coverage gives you the ability to see the dentist of your choice and includes preventative maintenance, basic, restorative and major services visits.  Additional benefits including orthodontia can be added based on individual employee needs.

UNILEAVE

All full-time employees begin accruing 7.08 hours of unileave time per pay period (equivalent to 23 days weeks per year during the first five years of service). The unileave time earned is a combination of planned vacation and sick leave.  After five years of service, the amount of unileave time accrued increases every year thereafter.  Employees can sell back a portion of their unileave time when certain criteria are met.

 

EMPLOYER SPONSORED RETIREMENT

The Aviation Authority at Tampa International Airport is a member of the Florida Retirement System (FRS).  Contributions towards an employee’s retirement are made by the Aviation Authority monthly.   Through the payroll process, employees are required to make a mandatory 3% pre-tax contribution to their retirement fund. Employees have the option to choose between a traditional pension plan or an individual investment plan. Retirement benefits vary according to the plan you choose.

EMPLOYEE SPONSORED RETIREMENT

In addition to the Florida Retirement System’s Employer Sponsored Retirement, Aviation Authority employees can elect to make pre-tax payroll contributions to a 457(b) deferred compensation plan managed by ICMA Retirement Solutions.  As an added benefit, when an employee contributes to the 457(b) deferred compensation plan, the Aviation Authority matches that contribution to an amount of up to 3% of their salary.  The plan offers many investment options and free financial guidance.

 

WELLNESS REIMBURSEMENT

Each employee of the Aviation Authority at Tampa International Airport is eligible for an annual wellness reimbursement of up to $500 for participating in qualified wellness activities.  An example of reimbursable wellness expenses include:

  • Entrance/participation fees for events such as 5K races, marathons and triathlons
  • Weight management/weight loss program fees
  • Participation fees for Zumba classes, yoga, tennis or swimming lessons
  • Group exercise or personal training fees not currently subsidized by the Authority
  • Fitness center, health club or aquatic center membership fees
