Tampa International Airport and general aviation airports to enforce new drone restrictions

July 21, 2017

Beginning Sept. 1, the Hillsborough County Aviation Authority will be enforcing new height restrictions regarding Unmanned Aircraft Systems, or drones, near Tampa International, Peter O. Knight, Tampa Executive and Plant City airports to ensure aircraft safety. The new runway protection zone will include areas that restrict drone use from zero to 200 feet for recreational users.

Drone operators, residents living near the airports and others interested in the restrictions may access an interactive map at: www.tampaairport.com/UAS.

The public is invited to join us for an outreach meeting to discuss the new ordinance on Wednesday, Aug. 9, at 5:30 p.m. in the HCAA Boardroom located on the 3rd level of the Main Terminal near the Blue Earhart elevators.
