(October 19, 2017) Last month, during the week that most of the Tampa Bay area was preparing for Hurricane Irma, an 81-year-old man walked up to Tampa International Airport Police Officer Luis Flores. He thought he was supposed to board a flight, only to find out he had the wrong date. He was stranded at TPA after he was dropped off by a friend who borrowed his car. He had no phone and no wallet, having left those in the car.
(October 19, 2017) A group of passengers gathered in Red Baggage Claim to retrieve their luggage. A man disappeared into the restroom and emerged with a handgun. He fired into the crowd. Chaos and screaming ensued. Victims dropped to the floor. Police and paramedics rushed to the scene.
(October 5, 2017) Frontier Airlines this week launches six of the 12 nonstop destinations the airline is bringing to Tampa International this year, including nonstop service to Colorado Springs – a new destination for TPA.
Frontier will celebrate the new service with fares as low as $29 at flyfrontier.com.
(September 26, 2017) Tampa International Airport today celebrated the grand opening of eight new shops and restaurants – the most since the airport’s concessions redevelopment program began in 2016.
The new concepts include New York New York Pizza, Chick-fil-A, Burger 21, Shades of Time and Dylan’s Candy Bar on Airside A; SPANX, The Body Shop and News Channel 8 opened on Airside C.
(October 4, 2017) Born and raised in the Tampa Bay area, Southwest Airlines ramp agent Adam Juriga has early memories of his father bringing him to Tampa International Airport to watch planes land and take off and take photos.
“I guess that’s when I got the ‘AvGeek’ bug,” Juriga said.

(September 18, 2017) - Tampa International Airport today joined the Airports Council International Airport Carbon Accreditation program, furthering its commitment to its sustainable goals and applying best practices in carbon management. By entering the program, which launched in Europe in 2009 and in North America in 2014, TPA joined the 26 North American airports and 195 airports around the world that currently participate.

Sept. 7, 2017 - Icelandair today will launch nonstop, twice-weekly service to Reykjavík, Iceland, adding to Tampa International Airport's growing portfolio of international flights.
The route establishes a nonstop connection to Iceland, an increasingly popular tourism destination, and creates easy access to more than 25 destinations in Europe. It’s TPA’s third new European flight since 2011.
