(February 21, 2018) Tampa International Airport joined Sheltair Aviation Feb. 21 to celebrate the grand opening of its newest corporate hangar complex at TPA. The new addition gives Sheltair, one of the nation’s leading fixed-base operators, the capacity to handle newer larger-cabin jets and the ability to meet the region’s growing general aviation needs.
(February 15, 2018) Eduardo Garrido hopped off the SkyConnect at the Main Terminal station, luggage and family behind him, and immediately spotted a large bouquet of red roses.
In one swift motion, he plucked a long stem roses out of the basket and smoothly handed it to his wife with a smile and a kiss.
“Happy Valentine’s Day,” he said.
He then gave a rose to each of his four daughters.

(February 15, 2018) Southwest Airlines announced today that it will begin daily nonstop service between Tampa and Los Angeles beginning Aug. 7. The new route will be the third airline at TPA to offer nonstop service to the popular West Coast hub, adding to Delta Air Lines’ existing service to LAX and Spirit Airlines’ service beginning April 12.

The SkyConnect is Tampa International Airport’s new people-mover. It connects the Main Terminal to the Economy Garage and the new Rental Car Center.

Less than five minutes, and that includes the stop time at the Economy Garage
(February 8, 2018) Surrounded by hundreds of members of the team who made the day possible, Tampa International Airport officials joined Gov. Rick Scott and local dignitaries on Feb. 7 to dedicate the Airport’s new SkyConnect people-mover system and Rental Car Center.
Both open to the public on Feb. 14. With these elements complete, Phase 1 is coming to a close.
(February 8, 2018) Last month, Airport Dispatcher Tonya Haigler noticed one of the video screens in the Airport Operations Center had the weather forecast on a local news station. Temperatures were dropping to near-freezing levels.
She thought of people she saw from time to time sleeping on benches and behind buildings on her drive to and from work. Then she thought about a stash of blankets at her church.

The Airport Gallery features art exhibitions that change periodically, typically every six to 12 months. The gallery is accessible to the public and located in the hallway connecting the Main Terminal to the Airport Marriott Hotel.
