Dallas executive vice president Joseph W. Lopano accepts offer as Tampa International Airport’s new chief executive officer
Tampa – The Tampa International Airport five-member board of directors are pleased to announce that Joseph W. Lopano has agreed to accept the offer today to become the Chief Executive Officer of the Tampa International Airport.
“He’s eager to come on board,” stated Al Austin, chairman, Tampa International Airport board. Lopano starts as CEO of the Tampa Airport on January 1, 2011.
Lopano was selected as the new CEO last week and the airport’s general counsel Gigi Rechel and recruiter Michael Bell, Spencer Stuart, worked with Austin to negotiate a contract with Lopano, bringing it back for an approval vote at the October 7th airport board meeting.
“I am humbled and energized by the opportunity to lead such a great airport as Tampa International,” said Lopano. “I'm looking forward to working with the excellent staff already in place at TIA.”
Joseph W. Lopano, 55, is the current Executive Vice President, Marketing & Terminal Management for Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, is an airline veteran and has been with the Airport since January of 1997. He is responsible for passenger and cargo network development, advertising and marketing programs for the Airport, customer service, and real estate as it relates to contractual negotiations with airline tenants.
