Transit Survey
Tampa International Airport (TPA) is one of seven commercial service airports in the State of Florida's Strategic Inter-modal System Plan (SIS). The SIS includes airports, ports, trains and highways that are part of a transportation network providing end-to-end trips for passengers and freight. The SIS network serves our collective economic, community and environmental needs. To address these needs, the Florida Department of Transportation, District 7 is conducting a Strategic Regional Transit Needs Assessment (SRTNA) to determine the role of transit in the Tampa Bay region. As part of this effort, the Aviation Authority has worked with the Florida Department of Transportation, District 7, Public Transit/Intermodal Office to implement a public transit survey of incoming (deplaning) passengers at TPA in December 2005. This survey collected trip data and passenger preferences concerning Tampa Bay public transit services, as well as transit at other airports. The survey responses will be analyzed by FDOT as part of the SRTNA that started in January 2006. The following report commissioned by the Aviation Authority presents the survey findings and makes recommendations based on what our airport passengers said.
