TPA seeks public input on Disadvantaged Business Enterprise participation goal for 2014-16'
The Hillsborough County Aviation Authority has proposed an overall goal of 12.4% for Disadvantaged Business Enterprise participation in federally funded construction projects for the next three years. The goal is intended to guarantee opportunities for minority and women participation in such projects. Those interested in learning more are invited to attend an informational meeting Oct. 9 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in the Authority Board Room located in the main terminal’s 3rd level blue side. Copa Airlines CEO, Panama officials get warm welcome at TPA's 'Copa Day'
The day began with a Columbia Café breakfast and a spirited Latin town hall with local Hispanic business and tourism leaders. It ended with a lively luncheon and interviews with local newspapers before a farewell with Tampa Bay Rays jerseys and cigars tucked under arms. By the time Copa Airlines CEO Pedro Heilbron and Panam's Vice Minister of Tourism Ernesto “Tito” Orillac left TPA on their afternoon flight on Sept. 12, they had an entirely new impression of the Tampa Bay area. Sustainability Visioning Sessions Bring a Range of Ideas to TPA
Support regional public transit. Use available roof surfaces to collect solar energy. Increase incentives to retain our airport workforce. Make the airport a more popular destination for community events. These were a few of the many suggestions to come out of the Sustainability Master Plan visioning sessions, held in late July. Airport Fleet Plugged Into The Latest Technology
Tampa International Airport is adding a new vehicle to its fleet of staff cars – and this one comes with a plug. As of August 1, a 2013 Chevy Volt is the latest addition to the airport’s fleet, replacing the 1995 Buick Regal known as Staff 4. (08/08/2013)

Volunteer Ambassadors Celebrate Successful First Year Of Helping Visitors
Gretchen and Jack Fiery were nearing the end of their four-and-a-half hour shift at their Tampa International Airport information booth and they had already helped 104 passengers for the day. A mother who needed a ride for her and her child, a woman who couldn’t find her baggage carousel, a man asking about a hotel shuttle – all were cheerfully pointed in the right directions by the friendly married couple. Nonstop International Flights Spark Excitement In Tampa Bay Area
It was nonstop good news about nonstop flights overseas from Tampa International Airport last week. First, CEO Joe Lopano announced Wednesday that Copa Airlines would be flying nonstop four times a week from Tampa to Panama City, beginning Dec. 17. Two days later, Edelweiss Air announced it would be expanding its nonstop flights to Zurich next year, flying twice a week from March until October. (07/23/2013)

Tampa Airport USO Center hosts first medal ceremony
The USO Center at Tampa International Airport hosted a medal ceremony on Tuesday, April 2, for former Army Sergeant Ralph Morgan who received the Silver Star that he was originally approved for over 42 years ago following a battle in Vietnam. Volunteer Ambassador Program reaches milestone
Where do I go to rent a car? What's the best way for me to get to the beach? Are there any hotels close to Busch Gardens? These are the types of questions passengers pose to Volunteer Ambassadors who staff Tampa International Airport's Visitor Information Centers. The program reached a milestone in February, when volunteers assisted the 100,000th passenger and tallied 112,000 questions answered.
