International passengers at Tampa International Airport now have more options for exchanging currency.
The airport this month opened a Travelex Currency Services kiosk at Airside F near Gate 86, making it convenient to the bulk of the airport’s international departure and arrival gates.
Steady increases in international flights prompted the addition of the new facility to accommodate the influx of travelers.
“We’re always looking for new ways to better serve our customers,” said Bhavesh Patel, the airport’s director of concessions. “With our emphasis on growing international flights, it makes sense for us to have a second location for currency exchange close to the departure and arrival gates.”
The Airside F currency exchange, which opens every day at 11 a.m., exchanges currency for all of Tampa’s most popular international destinations including England, Mexico, Canada and Switzerland, as well as other countries throughout the world.
The main Travelex Currency Services counter, located in the main terminal, is open daily beginning at 7 a.m. In addition to currency exchange, the main terminal office offers Western Union services, notary services, and sells lottery tickets and travel insurance.
The additional currency exchange location is part of the airport’s efforts to better serve its growing number of international passengers. Tampa International Airport has seen a 20 percent increase in international traffic this year compared to the same period in 2011.
The airport also is investing $27.6 million in renovations to Airside F to improve passenger flow through security checkpoints and customs and increase baggage handling capacity and concessions space. The project is expected to be completed in late 2013.
