The kudos keep coming for new concessions at Tampa International Airport.
Airports Council International-North America recently named the Columbia Café at Airside E the Best New Food and Beverage concept in its 2012 Airport Concessions Contest.
The award was presented during the 2012 ACI-NA Airport Concessions Conference in Denver, CO.
The ACI-NA award add to a growing list of honors for the Columbia Café, a scaled down version of the original Columbia Restaurant located in Tampa's historic Ybor City.
Although the Columbia Café has only been open since May, it has already been named as a favorite spot to sample local flavor in several national and international polls including CNN Travel and FoxNews.com.
Also taking honors at the ACI-NA conference were Tampa Airport's Cigar City Brewing and First Flight. HMSHost received special recognition for those two concessions in the category of "Innovative Use of Non-Traditional Retail Space," along with concessions HMSHost recently added to Chicago's O'Hare Airport.
Cigar City Brewing is located at Airside C and is the home of Tony Jannus Pale Ale a beer brewed at Tampa International Airport. First Flight, a wine bar by Mise en Place, is located in the center of the main lobby in the Landside Terminal. Both spots are new concessions situated in previously unused space.
Columbia Café, Cigar City Brewing and First Flight were added to Tampa's concessions program in 2012 as part of an initiative to infuse more local flavor to the airport.
